AARON NOLA PITCHING LIKE HE DID IN 2018, WHEN HE WAS 3RD FOR CY!
By Sam Bush
Aaron Nola came up big in Thursday’s victory over the Reds, racking up 11 strikeouts over nine scoreless innings — recording his third career shutout.
The right-hander scattered just five hits on the night and didn’t walk a batter.
Nola generated 16 swinging strikes on 101 pitches in the ballgame — eight of those on his knuckle curve — while posting an elite CSW of 40 percent.
After going without a shutout through the first five seasons of his big league career, Nola has now notched one in each of the last three seasons. He’ll carry a stellar 3.08 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 185/22 K/BB ratio into Tuesday’s matchup against the Diamondbacks in Arizona.
