EAGLES ROOK JURGENS AND LB KYZIR WHITE STOOD OUT IN LOSS TO JETS
By Art Beitchman
Although the Eagles lost to the New York Jets 24-21 in preseason game No. 1, some new players looked good Friday night at the Linc.
Rookie center Cam Jurgens stepped in for Jason Kelce with some nice blocking, very much under control for his first time in Midnight Green under the lights snapping the ball in an NFL game.
LB Kyzir White made a splash with an interception as his Eagle career got started after signing with the club as a free agent this offseason. The 5-year vet from Macungie, Pa., a suburb of Allentown, should give the Birds some upgraded play this year at linebacker.
Second year WR DeVonta Smith and RB Kenneth Gainwell both returned to the practice field Sunday as the team travels to Cleveland for joint practices with the Browns this week, playing on Sunday at 1pm in preseason game No. 2.
