GIANTS SAQUON BARKLEY FACING A MAKE-OR-BREAK YEAR IN 2022
By Lewis Gould
SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano doesn’t expect the Giants to extend contract-year RB Saquon Barkley.
Vacchiano would expect new GM Joe Schoen to shop Barkley on the trade market if his value wasn’t at an all-time low coming off a down season after losing 2020 to a torn ACL.
Cutting him also isn’t an option with Barkley due a guaranteed $7.217 million salary this year.
Of course, all this could change if Barkley is able to rebound in an improved offense under first-time head coach Brian Daboll.
Barkley just turned 25 earlier this month. The new Giants regime, however, isn’t the one that used the No. 2 overall pick on him back in 2018.
