The Phillies shocked the world and got to the World Series last year.
With big bopper Kyle Schwarber leading off.
Schwarbs smacked a league-leading 46 homers and had 94 RBI’s, but he also hit only .218 and struck out 200 times.
Not exactly the ideal slashes for a lead-off man.
Yesterday Trea Turner went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs as the Phillies beat the Blue Jays 7-2.
Turner has gone 2-for-3 in both of his spring appearances.
There was some discussion initially over whether Turner or Schwarber would lead off, but it’s clear that Turner, the more traditional choice, will occupy the spot initially, even though he hit mostly second and third for the Dodgers last year.
