Aaron Nola will get the start for the Phillies in Game 1 of the World Series on Friday at Houston.

The Astros will pitch Justin Verlander.

Phillies manager Rob Thomson announced that news on Wednesday morning while also adding that Zack Wheeler will be on tap for Game 2 on Saturday.

Nola struggled in his lone NLCS outing against the Padres, but he was brilliant in both the NL Wild Card Series and National League Division Series.

The 29-year-old right-hander registered a 3.25 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, and 235/29 K/BB ratio over 205 innings during the 2022 regular season.

His final regular-season start was at Minute Maid Park and he racked up nine strikeouts across 6 2/3 scoreless frames.
