MAD MAX WILL START FOR METS FRIDAY AGAINST PADS, BUCK SAYS

By Nick Savage

Mets manager Buck Showalter said Wednesday that Max Scherzer will start the team’s second half opener against the Padres on Friday night.

No word yet on how the rest of the rotation will line up out of the break, but Scherzer will get the ball opposite Yu Darvish at Citi Field on Friday.

The 37-year-old Scherzer registered a stellar 2.23 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 90/12 K/BB ratio over 69 innings in 11 starts during the first half.
