NO SURPRISE SIXERS FIRED DOC RIVERS, HIS REPLACEMENT MAY BE!
By Art Beitchman
The 76ers firing of Doc Rivers after the huge game 7 loss to the Celtics should come as no surprise.
The head coach often takes the fall for players’ failures.
That it came after James Harden’s lukewarm endorsement of Rivers raises eyebrows how the two got along, maybe not so good.
The list of coaches to replace Rivers is long, starting with current assistant Sam Cassell, who’s been rumored for head jobs for a couple of years now. He could get the nod.
Championship winning coaches including Nick Nurse and Mike Budenholzer are logically on the top of the list for Rivers replacement.
Other candidates that will get some consideration are Monty Williams, Frank Vogel, and Mike D’Antoni.
Who the new 76ers coach should be is an easy post to fill, and it should be done as quickly as possible.
