PHILS WIN STREAK ENDED WITH A 13-1 CRASH, BUT A RED OCTOBER IS A DREAM NO MORE

By Art Beitchman

The Phillies long winning streak ended yesterday with an ugly 13-1 loss to the D-backs.

Not too bad considering they made up a 9-game gap in the standings to start new interim manager Rob Thomson first couple weeks on the job!

The starting pitching has been good, and run production throughout the winning roll was very good.

Much better than the first two months of the season when they appeared stuck in neutral under Joe Girardi.

After his dismissal they found a new gear.

They need to keep the momentum going after winning three consecutive series over the Angels, Brewers, and D-backs.

They currently stand at 30-30, within striking distance of a wild card playoff spot with 102 games remaining on the schedule, starting tonight opening a 3-game set with the Miami Marlins at CBP.
