STARS ARE ALIGNED FOR PHILLIES TO BEAT CARDS IN WILD CARD!
By Art Beitchman
Minutes after the Phillies beat the Houston Astros Monday night 3-0 behind solid pitching by Aaron Nola and Kyle Schwarber’s NL leading 45th and 46th home runs to clinch their first playoff berth in 11 seasons, the collective sigh of relief could be heard all over the region.
The locker room celebration was real and festive for many players that will play postseason baseball for the 1st time.
There’s not much time to bask in the glory as the matchup with the St. Louis Cardinals has been set at Busch Stadium Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in a best of 3 series to move on to the next round.
Zack Wheeler will pitch game 1, Aaron Nola game 2, Ranger Suarez game 3 for the Phillies,.
The draw is more favorable for the Phils who matched up better with the Cards in the 2022 regular season, as opposed to the Braves and Mets.
