WTF! GIANTS DEVITO AND JETS WILSON ARE OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
By Max Harper
Stranger things may have happened in the NFL this year, but how about this:
The Giants’ Tommy DeVito and the Jets’ Zach Wilson were honored Wednesday as the offensive players of the week for the NFC and AFC, respectively.
DeVito, whose improbable rise and family ties to the New York/New Jersey region have quickly made him something of a folk hero, completed 81 percent of his passes for 158 yards and a touchdown, and added 71 yards rushing in leading the Giants to a dramatic, 24-22 win Monday night over the Green Bay Packers.
Wilson, in his first game back after a two-week benching, completed 75 percent of his passes Sunday for 301 yards and two touchdowns in leading the Jets to a 30-6 rout of the Houston Texans.
Neither player threw an interception. Both notched passer ratings of over 110 and helped their teams improve to 5-8 and remain on the periphery of the playoff race.
